What are RSS feeds?

“RSS” is an abbreviation for “Real Simple Syndication” and refers to a feed format used to provide regular updates to frequently updated publications on the Internet.  Internet users who utilize RSS technology get started by setting up an account at a news aggregator such as Bloglines, FeedDemon, or NewsGator, and they enter the URLs for each of the RSS feeds they want to follow into such news aggregator.  The news aggregator then collects all of the updates for each of the RSS feeds selected by the account holders, who can login periodically to the account and quickly scan the updates for anything of interest.

See Google for more information about RSS newsreaders.
